Practice Policies – Paediatricians & Allied Health Services

Practice Policy

Both the Paediatric and allied health Services provided at PCDC require your consent to collect personal information about you. We collect information from you to enable us to provide you with quality service. The information we collect allows us to properly assess your situation, provide appropriate information & advice, and assist you in achieving your goals. We also use this information for administrative purposes in running Perth CDC and for correspondence with others involved in your family’s healthcare including doctors, specialists, and other health professionals.

 

Booking Fees

There is a heightened demand for Developmental Paediatric and Allied Health services across Western Australia, and as a result, our paediatric and allied health specialists are currently operating with a full schedule. To accommodate this demand and secure the appointment for your child, we kindly request an advance booking fee of $100.00. Please be aware that this fee is adjusted in your child’s appointment fees and if your child will not show up to this appointment your booking fees will be non-refundable.

 

Late Cancellations/No Show Policy

To provide our patients with the best possible care, both Paediatric and Allied Health Services at PCDC operate on an appointment-based system. No-shows, late-comers, and late cancellations impact greatly on our ability to provide a high-quality service. Clients that repeatedly miss or reschedule Allied Health Services appointments will regretfully be discharged from care. Paediatric appointments Initials and follow ups will ONLY be rescheduled only in case of exceptional circumstances (medical emergencies, etc).

 

We ask that you provide us with at least 48 hours’ notice in writing via email if you are unable to attend your appointment. If less than 48-hour notice is given to cancel/reschedule an appointment, a full appointment fees (for Allied health and Paediatric services) will be charged*. This fee is not covered by compensable bodies and must be paid by the patient. No- shows will be charged at the cost of the appointment and be payable by the patient. If you are running late, please give us as much notice as possible. Your appointment may understandably be cut short, to finish after the allotted time.

 

Report request for Paediatricians

All paediatricians can provide you with a short letter of diagnosis and management plan once the assessment is complete. If you would like a comprehensive report (which can be anywhere from 5 to 20 pages long) this will be an out-of-pocket expense of $1000. These reports can take up to 5 hours of report writing time which means the report may take at least 4 weeks to complete. Please speak to your paediatrician for more information.

 

Prescription Request

“Authority Script” will ONLY be written at an appointment. We do not wish to embarrass you by refusing, so please make sure you have an appointment booked well in advance. Your GP may be able to write some, if not all your prescriptions, other than an Authority Script. You can check with your GP first, before contacting us. Please leave all repeat prescriptions with your pharmacy, as this an important document and should be treated as such. Payment is required prior to us sending your script/s to your chosen pharmacy.

Your request will take time to process, and we cannot give a date of when the script will be ready kindly allow 14-21 working days.

 

Allied Health Services

Private Paying patients: At your third appointment you will be required to pay a registration fee of $193.99. This fee will be used for cancellations without 48 hours’ notice. You will receive one NO cost cancellation in 6 months’ time. Once you have used up this fee you will be required to pay another $193.99 as registration fee.

 

Report request for Allied Health Services

Reports, NDIS Plans/Quotes, Home/School/Community-based Strategies, and third-party Communications

Written reports or Strategies needed in writing must be requested within three weeks of your initial appointment. A written report will enable you to share the information collected with other professionals (involved in your child’s care) and to assist in supporting requests for funding or support.

Should you require additional communication/documentation e.g., email feedback, other communications to third parties or other family members, these will be charged at the rate of session costs in increments of 10 mins, equating to $32.33/10min.

Note: Scheduled appointment times are inclusive of time required for session set-up, wind-up as well as discussion and feedback. Please be aware of your time slot and respect the professionals time and space during appointments.
